Second2 goes ‘green’ for major market players
With environmental pressures forcing businesses to be more aware of their environmental impact, market-leaders Hitachi Data Systems and Cisco engaged Second2’s Outsourced Marketing Resource team to identify a way to educate their customers on their green credentials and how to reduce the impact of their datacenter.
From the resultant Campaign Plan, Second2 developed the concept ‘With Power Comes Responsibility’; using strong imagery around the ‘Power Off’ symbol, the concept highlighted the environmental impact of datacenters with regard to power consumption. Key facts and statistics were used to illustrate the high level of consumption associated with powering and cooling traditional datacenters; providing a really strong picture of the associated costs.
Lead generation activities included a direct mail campaign, email campaign and telemarketing, all driving recipients to a cutting-edge online Ebook. This online publication, researched and written by an independent industry expert, used a mix of rich media, including video and flash animation to provide a practical guide to reducing the power and environmental cost of their datacenter.
To further the impact and awareness of the campaign, Second2 hired and branded Tuk Tuks at Storage Expo, Olympia; this provided high exposure for the campaign and drove a high level of website hits in the period following the exhibition.
